KHN Tech CZ and its history is connected with searching for and development of technical solutions to extend the service lifetime of the technological equipment using a wear-resistant basalt. Systems of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical transport of solids fall within the area where solutions with basalt or other types of ceramics started to be applied worldwide several decades ago.

Origins of the company are thus connected with working of running plants and searching for a solution of the problematic part of the technology in terms of the service lifetime. When already at the plant, solving protection against abrasion, customers requested further support and assistance with troubleshooting the operational problems caused by design errors of the original supplier comprising e.g. improperly chosen technology, unsuitable pipe routing or incorrectly setup conveying velocities.

From the very beginning, our company worked at power stations, heating plants, metallurgical works, coking plants, mines, cement works or lime plants, solving operational problems and modification of the technology, most often financed from limited maintenance budgets. This forced us to look for cost-effective solutions, but still functional with maximum preservation of the existing equipment. What was the necessity first, became a standard approach that was established in our company policy, and we dare to say that this distinguishes us from most of our competitors.

The history of our company provides an extensive information based on operational experience from applications of various equipment manufacturers of solids conveying systems. We are continuously maintaining our overview of what is offered on the market, what equipment from which manufacturer works well and reliably and which do not work as expected. Thanks to this experience, we transformed from the original service and maintenance provider to the supplier of complex systems, from the elaboration of the design documentation all the way to the delivery, installation of commissioning.

In terms of repair, reconstruction or modernisation projects, we offer a complex approach comprising

Fly ash handling, industrial vacuum exhausters to suck off fly ash or FGD products, round design of pulverised coal pipes to coal burners, lime handling for FGD plants, sand/inert material transport to the fluidised-bed boilers, biomass handling.

For application with pneumatic transport with over-size particles and request for long lifetime, we use our special, patented square elbow lined with basalt or ceramics, which can also be fitted with a residual lining lifetime measurement. This allows timely detection of the forthcoming wear through of the lining and thus proper planning of elbow replacement within planned outages.

Except many standard applications within both green field and brown field projects, we can solve also very specific technological problems that needs a made-to-measure solution, such as

  • Design, delivery and assembly of special terminal boxes in fly ash pneumatic pipelines to slow down inlet velocity into silos from 35 m/s to as low as 4 m/s
  • Design, delivery and assembly of special inspection pipe pieces, lined with basalt, for pneumatic transport of wood chips and saw dust
  • Modification of inlets into cell feeders with water detection, automatic drainage and separation of oversize particles
  • Special hexagonal elbows with antistatic plexiglass covers for pneumatic transport of saw dust
  • Special modification of ejectors with implementation of concentric air injection
  • Modification and lining of IBAU fly ash pump with basalt

  • Patented system to eliminate transmission of vibrations from the pump to the outlet piping
  • Patented system for absorption of dynamic impacts
  • System of pumping deep-mined water from and to 1 km depth, realised for OKD mines
  • System of fly ash hydraulic transport through the underground pipeline system across the commercial and historical zone of the Dolni Vitkovice area, in the city of Ostrava, Czech Republic
